Beyond our doors - Aquatic Facilities role in the wider community
He pukenga wai, he nohonga tāngata, he putanga kōrero
Where waters meet, people meet, where people meet, knowledges flows.
Aquatic facilities mean more to our communities than just being places to swim. They connect people. They support water safety. They strengthen community wellbeing.
Our facilities also respond to environmental events and civil emergencies. As we look to the future, this role will continue to grow as community needs change.
At Waves 2026, we will explore how we prepare for this shift. We will look at how facilities remain fit for purpose. We’ll also focus on how we support our people with the skills and knowledge they need.
Together, we’ll share ideas, build capability, and strengthen our impact across communities
Do you have a story, case study, innovation, or concept that aligns with this theme, and could inspire the aquatics sector?
