• Odyssey School Flying Colors Fun Run

    Featuring 2K Fun Run (walkers welcome too!) at Hominy Creek Park + DJ Dave Hartley (of The War on Drugs) and Floating Action at French Broad River Outfitters. Run winning categories: Fastest Runner, Slowest Finisher, Best Costume, and Funniest Stride. Odyssey student art show and performances in poetry / music included. Food and beverages for purchase. When: Sunday, April 28, Noon to 4PM. Where: 80 Shelbourne Road, Asheville, NC 28806

  • All Registrations Include: 

    • Noon starts to out and back greenway run / walk at Hominy Creek Park (80 Shelbourne Road, Asheville, NC 28806)
    • Performances include Odyssey student musicians / poets, DJ Dave Hartley from The War on Drugs and Floating Action (a mix of styles including indie, dub, blues, lo-fi and funk)
    • Entrance to the Hominy Creek Riverbar and Odyssey's Spring Student Art Show at neighboring French Broad River Outfitters
    • Incredible fun with the creative community that is Odyssey School and satisfaction that you are supporting local independent pre-k through 12th grade education! Additional donations and information about sponsorship found in the links! 

    Other Notes:

    PARKING: includes street shoulder spaces and short walks to event sites. Please plan to coordinate and drop off anyone needing access support as there are very few accommodating parking spaces. Plan for some muddy areas. 
    WALKERS WELCOME! The greenway is a gentle, paved sidewalk along the French Broad River. Please participate! A note to serious runners: this is foremost a community gathering with children.
    BRING CHAIRS: We seek to enjoy the afternoon together and by bringing a canvas / camping chair, you’ll be far more comfortable. There are very few picnic tables.
    FOOD & BEVERAGE: available for purchase. Burgers, chicken sandwich, fries, tots and a couple of salad options. You are welcome to bring your own picnic, but no alcohol from outside. Local beer, wines, ciders, sodas and juices available for purchase. BRING YOUR OWN WATER BOTTLE.
    BATHROOMS: there are 4 portable bathrooms on site (in addition to the one in the parking lot of the actual park)
    COSTUMES: Optional yet encouraged! Please get in the springtime spirit and come decked in your flying colors. This can include a single commitment to a favorite or a dazzling display of the rainbow.

    SAFETY: Attendees are personally responsible for themselves, their family members and their belongings. The run is a personally liable activity. By registering, you hold Odyssey School, the Buncombe County Park system, the French Broad River Outfitters and all said representatives harmless of any injury. This is a family friendly event. Please drink responsibly.
