NJ Basic Crash Investigation – Two Weeks

Kean University’s Statewide Comprehensive Traffic Safety Program presents this two-week class, offered free to Law Enforcement Crash Investigators, with funding and support from the New Jersey Division of Traffic Safety.

This course is the initial level of crash investigation training; officers will learn how to recognize, and document evidence found at the scene of motor vehicle crashes, including damage that occurs to a vehicle as the result of a crash. Properly identifying and documenting the critical evidence found at the crash scene will greatly aid in reconstructing a crash by other fully trained personnel.

Some Topics Covered in Basic Crash Investigation include:
- Information from People
- Information from Roads
- Information from Vehicles
- Drawing Scaled Diagrams
- Basic Speed Calculations
This course is beneficial for any Officer who investigates motor vehicle crashes and the foundation for Officers newly assigned to a traffic bureau.

This level of training introduces some basic crash investigation math formulas. Officers attending this class should have an understanding of high school-level algebra.

Students will need to bring a basic scientific calculator (cell phone use as a calculator is prohibited) and a drafting compass to the class.

Registration is closed; you can sign up to be placed on the standby list only at this time.

The class will be held in the Community Room at the Bell Works facility, 101 Crawfords Corner Rd., Holmdel, NJ.
