Haven Hills and Sojourn (The People Concern's Domestic Violence program) wanted 'Voices United: Ending Silence Together' to offer more than just resources to the community, but also a space for survivors to have their voices heard. It is the hope of our two agencies to accomplish this goal by curating an exhibit which features original artwork by survivors of sexual assualt, domestic violence, or family violence.
The artwork will be displayed in a designated space at the fair, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in the experiences of survivors. There will be a sign at the entrance to the exhibit space, providing attendees with information on the exhibit, a trigger warning for fellow survivors on the subject of the artwork, and a caution to families with children in case there may be pieces that are not appropriate for younger attendees.
Survivors and artists are encouraged to use the form below to submit original pieces (all mediums are welcome) that speak to any of the following:
- their personal experiences with these forms of violence,
- their healing journey,
- the impact of these types of violence on themselves, their family, or their community,
- the societal/political/legal/medical/historical/cultural/religious intersections with these types of violence,
- or any subject they deem significant
There are several display options for those who submit pieces, which include:
- remaining anonymous or using an alias,
- including an artist's statement with their piece,
- requesting a QR code be displayed next to their piece to receive direct donations or to allocate donations to the sponsoring organizations
Please refer to the form below to make these selections.
*Please note that due to limited capacity, it is possible that not all pieces submitted will be accepted into the exhibit.
