At Pearson Clinical UK, we develop and distribute assessments for professionals in psychology, allied health, general education, special needs education, and other areas serving people of all ages and cultures.

What is happening in this project?

We're developing tests of common knowledge and memory. These tests have already been developed in the US and we're now making sure they are suitable for our UK population.

By testing a large number of people in the UK, we can understand how individuals typically perform on the general knowledge and memory tasks. The results from this project will help professionals to identify adults who may benefit from intervention or support.

We welcome your participation in the project.

What will the project involve?

If you agree to be involved, Pearson Clinical UK will check if you fit the requirements for taking part based on the information you provide such as location, age etc.

If you are chosen to take part, we will contact you to arrange the two assessment sessions. Your second session will take place within 4 weeks of the first. Most sessions take approximately 2 hours but some sessions may be shorter/longer.

The sessions can take place either at your home or at a convenient public location. The sessions will be conducted by a trained professional (with an enhanced DBS criminal background check), who will ask you to complete some brain teasers, memory tasks and general knowledge questions. .

Please do not worry about your performance in these tasks as we're trying to gain an understanding of how individuals typically respond to the tasks. We're not looking for perfect scores!

The personal information we ask for is purely to make sure that we have information from a wide variety of people on the tasks and will not be used for any other purpose.

We will not be able to give you the results of your test because the test is still under development.

A small number of people who take part will be asked to take part in a third session. This will involve either the repetition of one of the tests or the completion of a similar test. If you are selected to take part in one of these additional sessions, you will be contacted and given further information.

Data Privacy

All the information you provide will be treated in the strictest confidence. The results of your test will not be given to any third party. The results will be anonymised and only used by the research team to create score tables.

Taking part in this research project is entirely voluntary and you would be free to withdraw at any time without giving a reason, resulting in all information provided being destroyed.
