What is fasting? As we look to answer this question, we must start with a consideration of what fasting is not. In addition, to understand fasting from a biblical perspective we will be helped as we understand the theology behind fasting; that is, vessel theology and the idea that fasting is a means of grace. We will investigate some of the biblical purposes and outcomes of fasting. Finally, we will consider some of the more important practical guidelines with respect to how to fast.
Class #2 | How to Pray. (CLASS FULL)
What is prayer? One way to understand what prayer is, is to understand what it is not. Class #3 | How to Have a Biblical View of The Church.
The church (ekklaysia) is the gathering together of the called-out ones. What does that look like? There exists a variety of popular models or metaphors that can, to some degree, be seen as being descriptive of the church. Some aspects of each of these models are more accurate than others. We will analyze how they impact our view of/activity in the church. There also exists biblical models or metaphors used in the bible to describe and explain the church. These models yield a more accurate view of the nature of the church. The more we understand the nature of the church, the better we will know how to live in it.

Class #4 | How to Understand Suffering In Light of The Fact That God is Good.
The question of the reality of suffering in the world is inextricably linked to the question of evil. At the same time, it is implicitly and definitively linked to the question of the sovereignty of God. To understand suffering is to understand God, His adversary, and the nature of His kingdom. Hence, the answers may be somewhat surprising, or at least, somewhat turned on their head. Whatever the answer, it is certainly not that suffering does not exist. It exists and it is used. Perhaps, this is the core of the answer.

Class #5 | How To Learn Spiritual Warfare from Early Church Fathers.

We will explore how the early church fathers fought back and opposed many heretical teachings that were infiltrating the Christian church. We will also look at how many of these same spiritual warfare tactics of the Devil are rising up again in the local church and how we can use the same weapons of warfare the early church leaders used to once again fight back against this strategy of the enemy..

Class #6 | How to Understand What Faith IS and What It IS NOT.
What is faith? Is it more of a state of mind or is it more of an action? Is it psychological or is it relational? Is it more of a positive confession rooted in the authority of a believer or is it more of a confession of God’s sovereignty rooted in a believer’s trust in and relationship with God? To understand faith, one must first understand what faith is not. Faith is not a sort of technique to create desired results or to control environments or situations. Faith is, more than any other description, the action of knowing God.

Class #7 | How to Be Righteous by Being Unrighteous.
What defines someone as being righteous? Whatever righteousness is, we cannot produce it ourselves and it cannot be our own. It must be His. We must agree, therefore, that the value of God replaces the value of anything in this world. Ultimately, it is an issue of Lordship. Indeed, the attitude of one who is saved is that he or she is willing to give away his or her own righteousness for the righteousness of God. Unrighteousness in this world yields righteousness in the other world. Jesus uses the Parable of the Unrighteous Steward (Luke 16:1-13) to teach this principle. Paul uses Romans 1-2 to work out a theology of righteousness. We will use these passages to investigate the paradox of righteousness in our lives.

Class #8 | How to Participate in the Ministry of Healing.
Is the ministry of healing still for today or was it only done during the early church age? To answer this question, it is important to first ask, “What is the ministry of healing?” Also, “What is it for or why is it done?” In addition, “Who can be involved?” After these questions are answered, we can then answer the question of “How?” The most central answer to “How?” is to make yourself available for the Healer to work His healing through you for His glory. Indeed, the ministry of healing is Jesus’ ministry of healing.

Class #9 | How to Avoid the Dangers of NOT Knowing what the Kingdom of God Is.
What is going on in the current politically charged movement known as Christian Nationalism? How does the eschatological view known as post-millennialism play into that movement? We will study the nature of the kingdom of God in route to seeing the dangers of post-millennial fueled “isms” that have reared their ugly heads throughout history. We will then consider how to avoid such things by embracing the kingdom of God for what it is, and not for what it is not
