Volunteers are crucial to our mission of supporting people in our communities who have been affected by crime, suicide, and traumatic events. We value and appreciate your decision to volunteer with us and are committed to ensuring your experience is positive and fulfilling.
This agreement outlines what we ask you to do, and the support you can expect from us as a volunteer.
As a volunteer with Manaaki Tāngata Victim Support, you are asked to,
· Uphold our values and mission and act in the best interests of the organisation.
· Adhere to the codes, policies, procedures, and standards of the organisation.
· Be an active and engaged member of our team, undertaking roles and activities as agreed with dedication and commitment.
· Show up and actively participate in induction, learning and development, meetings, and practice sessions designed to help you excel in your role and meet our standards.
· Keep to your agreed time and availability commitments, letting us know as soon as you can if you are unable to fulfil your volunteer commitments.
· Maintain confidentiality and respect the rights and privacy of the people we support and team members.
· Embrace the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and treat individuals from diverse backgrounds with dignity and respect.
· Prioritise safety by following health, safety, and risk management guidelines and taking steps to ensure your well-being and that of those around you.
· Communicate any issues, concerns, or feedback with your Team Leader.
· Return your Victim Support phone, jacket, and any equipment you have been given when you stop volunteering with us. You are welcome to keep your Victim Support backpack and T-shirt/s.
In return, we will:
· Introduce you to our work, our team, our policies and practices, and operational standards.
· Provide comprehensive training and equip you with the necessary tools and resources you need to help you feel confident and well prepared for your role.
· Assign you a dedicated Team Leader, who will regularly check on your well-being, provide guidance and support, offer constructive feedback, and address any issues that may come up.
· Value everyone for their unique contributions and perspectives, actively fostering a positive, inclusive, respectful, and supportive volunteering environment.
· Safeguard your privacy with robust measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse.
· Facilitate opportunities for you to connect with other volunteers and team members, both in person and online, fostering a community of shared experiences and mutual learning.
· Reimburse approved out-of-pocket expenses, including mileage, in accordance with the IRD mileage reimbursement rate.
· Fairly and reasonably address any issues or concerns you have, following internal procedures as needed.
· Understand that life happens, and things change. If you need to adjust your availability or need time away, we will work with you to accommodate your needs.
· Take all reasonable measures to ensure your health, safety, and wellbeing while undertaking volunteering with us.
· Actively seek and value your feedback, giving you opportunities to contribute to the development of Manaaki Tāngata Victim Support and our services, and keep you informed of any changes.
This Agreement is based on goodwill and commitment. It is not a legally binding contract, and either you or Manaaki Tāngata Victim Support can end it at any time.
