About Expose Excellence Youth Program
Mission
To provide a safe environment for youth interaction while promoting positive self-expression and development of life skills and artistic expression.
Participants of the EEYP and YMCA Freedom Tour will get a fully immersive, first-hand experience of the civil rights movement that took place in the south. The trip will include visits to museums, memorials, and historical landmarks that are of great importance to the Civil Rights movement. Each day will end in small reflection groups where the youth will share their thoughts and feelings in a safe environment led by an adult chaperone. By combining reflective journaling with engaging conversation, students will gain a deeper context for the sites they visit and connect this history to the calls to action for racial justice today. Students will participate in challenging, educational, and value driven growth sessions where they can express themselves regarding their experiences along the tour.
