Expectations & Guidelines
Private posts or accounts made by HSSJC staff or volunteers promoting, showcasing, or advertising HSSJC animals, or anything else involving HSSJC, should always be positive and be in-line with our mission. The content featuring HSSJC animals, events, programs, etc. should reflect the Humane Society’s mission and adhere to these guidelines.
Unless you have been assigned to create official HSSJC content, all editing and posting of social media is to be done off-the-clock, on your own private channels.
Posts showcasing HSSJC animals, events, programs, etc., should not include controversial topics, confidential or proprietary information, profanity, nudity, illegal activities, or anything that would put HSSJC or stakeholders in a negative light.
We encourage you to include the HSSJC website URL (or donation wish list URLs) for posts about adoption, donating, events, etc.
It should be clearly stated in any private staff/volunteer accounts used to promote HSSJC animals that your account/posts are intended to advocate for shelter pets and animal welfare.
In addition, it should be clearly stated that your account/posts are yours and not official communications/accounts/posts of the Humane Society of St. Joseph County, and because of this, all questions, concerns, and comments regarding anything Humane Society related should be made directly through official HSSJC channels.
Disclaimer Example: “This account is not an official Humane Society of St. Joseph County account. All opinions, posts, and communications are mine, and mine alone. Any questions regarding the Humane Society, its pets, or concerns should be made to HSSJC directly at humanesocietystjc.org.”
If you need help deciphering what is appropriate for posting, please ask the Outreach Coordinator before posting.
