Getting the best out of your painting!

Paint is a way to communicate a feeling or a thing. Things have a limited amount of interest once it’s done. A painting that captures a feeling has a life that keeps giving.
Chunks of paint with shapes and values with a good composition can make things become feelings.

We will approach painting at the workshop with a focus on process, the steps from start to finish.

    Instructor's Bio

John David Anderson, born in Orillia, Ontario, 1954, has drawn and painted since childhood, rarely stopping despite life’s practical demands. Meeting Group of Seven painter A.Y. Jackson at his high school left a lasting impression. Influenced by artists such as Glen Loates, Andrew Wyeth, and European and North American impressionists, Anderson focuses on the emotional power of light. Through colour relationships, he expresses the illuminated spaces that inspire his paintings.

The absence of great women artists in art history was exclusively the result of bias in society,– scholars, curators, collectors, museum directors, critics – and had nothing to do with any lack of talent on behalf of women artists. The best women painters, sculptors and photographers proved their work at least equal to men upon every opportunity when given the chance.
By luck of the draw this course will focus on getting acquainted with 8 of these female artists through our own interpretation.
