USC Salkehatchie STEM has reached on average over 1600 students and community members a month in our 5-county region of Bamberg, Barnwell, Allendale, Hampton, and Colleton since the beginning of this school year 2024-2025! All our services are Free! Bring STEM to your classroom.

STEM manager, Tracy Beach is a South Carolina certified science teacher, has served as a State ADEPT SAFE-T evaluator mentor teacher, and has many other achievements including bringing up science scores!

Schedule a time for Mrs. Beach to come in and teach a class or classes using our STEM equipment. USC Salkehatchie STEM has hundreds of educational lessons with Drones (20 drone Fleet!), (20) Meta Quest 3 Virtual Reality Headsets with Victory XR educational apps, LEGO robotics (many units cover all Computer Science Standards), Coding with Micro: Bits, Snap Circuits, 3D Pens, Moly Mods and more!

Also, check out our STEM Bags below, available for drop-off and pick-up for Math and Science teachers! STEM bag checkouts are accompanied by a lesson plan, PowerPoint, and materials! We will deliver to your school while supplies last!

Please request 3 dates per equipment choice with a two week notice and submit: your name and school address, which equipment you would like her to come in to your class with, subjects you are covering, class times and number of students and send to Tracy Beach at the email below.

Micro:bits$ Free

Please visit https://makecode.microbit.org/ to look at lessons and coding capabilities. micro:bit is an award-winning programmable device that allows students to get hands-on with coding and digital making. Use it to inspire your students to recognize the power of technology in the real world. Multiple subject disciplines can use micro:bits as well as all ages! We have 19 microbits available that can be paired up in large class settings.

Tello Drones$ Free

Tello drones are a great learning tool and can be applied to every class! Science, History, Math, Computer Science and so much more. What are you interested in and I can get that lesson for you! We have 20 drones that can be paired up in large classes.

3D Pens$ Free

We have 6 that are typically used in STEM day rotation events.

Snap Circuits$ Free

Snap Circuits® uses building pieces with snaps that enable students to assemble electronic circuits on a simple rows-and-columns base grid that functions like a printed circuit board. Each component has a distinct function and is easily identified by color. With this hands-on kit, students can learn about the relationship between electricity and magnetism and how switches operate to control the lights in their homes. We have 15 sets that offer over 85 lessons in electrical circuitry.

Virtual Reality: Meta Quest 3 Victory XR $ Free

Victory XR meta quest 3 headsets have many opportunities to explore life sciences, CTE trades and Tech, healthcare and so much more! No internet needed, everything is pre loaded. The Arbor XR and Victory XR lessons are amazing and vast! Contact me to see what is available for you.

Molymod Inorganic/Organic molecule model sets$ Free

This versatile molecular model set contains plastic atoms and bonds designed to make skeletal models of elementary organic and inorganic structures. Packed in plastic case with instruction sheet. Let us come in and have fun making molecules!

LEGO Robotics Prime $ Free

Grades 5-8 build robots! All computer science standards are addressed. Reach out to Mrs. Beach to discuss lessons available!

USC Salk STEM has also created a STEM bag check out for STEM teachers to utilize. Most STEM Bags are accompanied by a lesson plan or links to lesson plans, Power Point and materials, except tape, scissors and glue!

STEM bags will be returned by drop off or pick up with a Survey to complete, Please plan to use the STEM bag materials within 5 school days of delivery and have bag, extra supplies and survey completed! A USC STEM representative will pick up the bag. Be sure to fillout all required information below!
