  • USC Salkehatchie STEM have been able to reach over 1500 students and community members a month this school year 2024-25 in our 5-county region of Bamberg, Barnwell, Allendale, Hampton, and Colleton.

    All our services are FREE thanks to our WORC II Renewal grant through the Savannah River Community Reuse Organization, the Department of Energy and the National Nuclear Security Administration. 

    For our public and private school Math and Science teachers we offer Hands-on STEM Bags to check out for weekly pick up and drop off by our STEM Ambassadors.  We provide the consumables and non- consumables are returned at pick up.

    Micro:bits. Please visit https://makecode.microbit.org/ to look at lessons and coding capabilities. micro:bit is an award-winning programmable device that allows students to get hands-on with coding and digital making. Use it to inspire your students to recognize the power of technology in the real world. Multiple subject disciplines can use micro:bits as well as all ages! We have 19 microbits available that can be paired up in large class settings.

    Tello Drones. Tello drones are a great learning tool and can be applied to every class! Science, History, Math, Computer Science and so much more. What are you interested in and I can get that lesson for you! We have 20 drones that can be paired up in large classes.

    3D Pens. 3Doodler START+ Essentials Pen Set - Kids bring ideas to life in 3D with this award-winning Pen Set. It's easy-to-use, uncomplicated technology drives engagement and comprehension of critical STEM subjects. Young learners ages 6-13 years old will thrive when they experience what it’s like to use their hands and minds as they bring their ideas to life in 3D! We have 6 that are typically used in STEM day rotation events.

    Snap Circuits. Snap Circuits® uses building pieces with snaps that enable students to assemble electronic circuits on a simple rows-and-columns base grid that functions like a printed circuit board. Each component has a distinct function and is easily identified by color. With this hands-on kit, students can learn about the relationship between electricity and magnetism and how switches operate to control the lights in their homes. We have 15 sets that offer over 85 lessons in electrical circuitry.

    Virtual Reality: Meta Quest 3 Victory XR . Victory XR meta quest 3 headsets have many opportunities to explore life sciences, CTE trades and Tech, healthcare and so much more! No internet needed, everything is pre loaded. The Arbor XR and Victory XR lessons are amazing and vast! Contact me to see what is available for you.

    LEGO Robotics Prime . Grades 5-8 build robots! All computer science standards are addressed. Reach out to Mrs. Beach to discuss lessons available!

    Petio Bittle X Robotic Dog. Petoi is the maker of lifelike bionic robot pets for adults and kids, with applications in robotics, STEM, coding, AI education, and human companionship. The robots are open source, high-performance, remote/app-controlled, and highly programmable. The robotics kits are built on top of Arduino and ESP32. They can be extended with popular open source hardware such as Raspberry Pi, Arduino modules, and sensors to make robots sense and interact with surrounding environments.
