Generation Action is an advocacy organization on campus funded by Planned Parenthood and dedicated to getting students involved in reproductive justice through advocacy and legislative work. Reproductive justice is justice for all, and Generation Action is dedicated to supporting and fighting for the rights of all students on campus.
Each semester, GenAction commits to a campaign. In previous semesters, we worked with the Senate to get free menstrual products on campus. Last semester, it was canvassing to get Abortion on the 2024 ballot (which, amazingly, we got enough signatures for!!!)
This semester, our campaign is to fight against Abortion Stigma. Abortion Stigma is the shared belief that abortion is morally wrong and/or socially unacceptable. It can take many forms that target various members of our community, including people who have had an abortion, health providers, and advocates for safe abortion. Some of the most serious consequences of abortion stigma include preventing people who can become pregnant from seeking information and advice, preventing them from receiving safe abortions, and leading them to seek unsafe abortions, which puts their health and lives at risk.
So, what is our request of you?
We aim to collect 200 abortion stigma pledges to demonstrate to students’ on-campus and community members alike our dedication to eliminating the stigma surrounding reproductive justice and vow to support Amendment 4, which puts abortion on the 2024 Florida ballot.
Your voice matters. What you choose to do matters.
