• SOS Membership Application Form

    The Samaritans of Singapore Limited (“SOS”, UEN 202245684D, a Company Limited by Guarantee) is registered under the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority of Singapore (ACRA) and Charities Act and Regulations.

  • Members' responsibilities

    As the role of Members is to provide oversight, their specific duties are to:

    1. Appoint Directors of the Board;
    2. Approve Financial Statement / Audit Report;
    3. Approve Annual Report / Statement of Directors;
    4. Appoint External Auditor and approve their remuneration;
    5. Ensure the Board of Directors run the Company according to the Objects stated in the Constitution;
    6. Approve the Company’s Constitution; and 
    7. Contribute to the assets of the Company in the event of it being wound up, such contribution not exceeding the sum of S$1.00.

  • Membership Selection

    Membership selection will be conducted by the Membership Committee. Applications will be assessed based on :

    (A)  Criteria :

    1. Professional Competencies e.g. financial acumen, business acumen, entrepreneurship, legal, risk management, organisation development, IT, communications/client experience, fund raising, government relations, strategic agility, etc
    2. Work Experience - extensive experience in leadership roles
    3. At least 2 years’ volunteer experience with SOS or other related Social Service Agencies without any conflict of interest (preferably in leadership / specialised roles)
    4. At least 21 years old
    5. Cannot be undischarged bankrupts.

    I declare that the information provided is true and accurate.  By furnishing the names of the referees, I agree for SOS to contact them for reference checks and have obtained their agreement to be contacted by SOS.  I will furnish a copy of my NRIC if I am accepted as a Member and understand that the membership is for a period of up to 5 years.  I have read, understood and shall abide by the Constitution and the Members Handbook, which may be amended from time to time. 

    I consent that my personal data collected may be used or disclosed to government authorities and SOS may contact me for purposes related to SOS.  I shall also treat all SOS information as confidential (including pictures and information of clients and other volunteers, staff or events, etc.) and will not collect, use or disclose them without the permission of SOS while I am a Member or after I have ceased to be a Member. I shall delete any SOS confidential information upon ceasing to be a member.
