Register your interest to parade with the London School of Samba at Notting Hill Carnival on Monday, 26th of August 2024.
Comissão de Frente - Terreiro de Tia Ciata, Praça Onze
Costumes Provided.
We want to make it a super fun, community-focused carnival, and registration is now open to our members, samba friends and family worldwide.
In Rio de Janeiro, Tia Ciata's house, and a temple of Candomblé, was a haven for displaced afro-brazilians where many found the freedom to express and celebrate their culture and ancestry through religion, food, music and dance. A sacred space and symbol of resistance, where, through the richness in cultures, Samba flourishes.
Just outside Tia Ciata's, Praça Onze was the epicenter of the black community in Rio de Janeiro, coined Little Africa. The public square brought together people from all walks of life, race, religion and class, showcasing the raw energy of batucadas and partido alto spreading throughout the city, before samba schools. Samba no pé! Samba de raiz!
