You can be a part of keeping our unique history alive!
Volunteering at the Museum of Butler, TN is a fun way to meet new people, cultivate friendships and help preserve the incredible story of the "town that wouldn't drown."
Here are a few areas where volunteers are needed. If you have ideas or suggestions of how you can offer your time and talent, please feel free to share them with us below.
- Like to tell stories and play checkers? Volunteer as one of our Stout Store storytellers. Invite visitors to play some checkers while sharing the importance of the general store in rural areas, which was ususually the hub of the Appalachian community.
- Have a green thumb? Your skills are needed in helping us maintain the museum grounds and make them iniviting for our visitors.
- Love kids? We love giving tours to students and need volunteers who can work with schools to host field trips to the museum, planning curriculum and hosting activities.
- During our season, we need volunteers to assist with special events from inception to hosting.
- Prefer to be "behind the scenes?" Volunteers are needed to keep our museum tidy and welcoming to all of our visitors during the season.
- Are you a storyteller? We need volunteers who will host guided tours to our visitors. Training will be provided for our museum docents.
- Have media or graphic skills? Volunteers are needed to help creating marketing collateral and generating publicity for the museum through traditional and digital media outlets.
