• Energy Industrial Park (EIP)- Don't Change Plan! Keep Residential Ban & Energy First Requirement!

The owners of the 3,000 acre Energy Industrial Park (EIP) in East Hillsborough promised to build a clean alternative energy plant in 2010. Once the energy source was built, they'd be given permission to build a huge Commercial Industrial/Manufacturing/Retail complex. They never built the promised energy source. Instead, they're now asking the county to drop the energy plant requirement and let them build the Commercial/Industrial/Mfg/Retail complex immediately, without any commitment to ever build the clean energy plant. In addition, they want the county to drop the residential housing ban and allow them to build a huge 1,200 home residential & retail development complex near their former phosphate mine Superfund Toxic Waste Site. There are contaminants on that land. The safety impacts for thousands of people living on and working at the EIP on a former phosphate mine is unknown. It will put a tremendous strain on our already overburdened roads, schools, & fire/safety. The county must SAY NO to both of these plan amendments (Case # CPA 23-15 and CPA 24-06) !
