Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Library Center of the Ozarks! Please complete the application below and Library staff will contact you. Volunteers are selected based on their qualifications in relation to the needs of the Library. If you want to volunteer for the Friends of the Library, please use the special form located on the "Friends" webpage. THANK YOU!
General Information
All volunteers must be reliable, consistent, and committed to providing excellent customer service. All positions require some bending, stooping, reaching overhead, standing for an extended time, and may require the use of a step stool and pushing a heaving book cart. Volunteering is conditional on adherence to the library's policies and expectations. All volunteers must consent to the Library completing a background check and sign a liability waiver before volunteering.

Materials Handling - Volunteers must pass a basic shelving test and take training before doing any job listed under Materials Handling. Please check one or more that interest you.
Shelving - putting books away in alphabetical or numerical order
Shelf-reading - checking the books on the shelves to ensure that they are in the proper order.
Collection Maintenance - working in the Technical Services Department to prepare material for circulation. Jobs include covering books, adding labels and barcodes, repacking material. *Volunteers will receive training.

Inventory - using special equipment, scanning every barcode on material into a computer. Inventory is done once a year.

Programs
Assistant - help the Library staff before, during, and after programs
Prepper - help prepare material for programs: cutting, gluing, organizing, etc.
Host - only during June & July for SRC. Helping register patrons for SRC, providing information and directions to patrons
Presenter - teach a class or program. Include details in the "Why do you want to volunteer in the library?" section below.
