Purpose: To provide assistance to a student who would not otherwise be financially able to attend Mountain Kids Summer Camps.
Selection Committee: Applications for assistance shall be submitted to the Selection Committee who will make the decision on awarding funds. The Selection Committee reserves the right to disburse funds as they see fit. Funds for each event may be awarded to one or more campers and may be in the form of full or partial scholarships. The amount of the scholarship shall be at the discretion of the committee based on funds available. The Selection Committee shall be composed of no less than two adult persons who have no financial or personal connections to the camper.
Eligibility: All campers, both new and returning, are eligible to apply for scholarships, though priority is given to those with the greatest need, and those who have previously attended Mountain Kids Summer Camps.
Application: Parent/guardian and Camper must submit the attached Application and give a general explanation of why the camper needs a scholarship to attend Mountain Kids Summer Camps. In addition, the parent/guardian is encouraged to identify a way to offer their time or skill in service to Mountain Kids Summer Camps. Examples may be assisting with crafts, river walks, food preparation, clean-up, etc.
Awarding of Funds: Scholarship awards will be made directly to Mountain Kids, and will be used solely for camp registration. No funds will be awarded directly to the student or family.
Awardee Guidelines: Students receiving scholarships are required to attend every day of camp on time, dressed in the proper attire. If a camper receives a scholarship, and does not attend the camp for which the scholarship was awarded without giving proper notice, the camper will be ineligible for future financial assistance. Exceptions may be given in circumstances outside of the camper’s control, such as illness or family emergency.
