A panel has been charged by the Vice Provost for Student Affairs to hear petitions from student organizations to create new remunerated positions to receive a stipend during the academic year. The Vice Provost for Student Affairs has adopted the following definition of a remunerated student leader:
"A remunerated student leader is a student who takes on a leadership role in the University community and is remunerated for that role. A remunerated student leader is different from that of a student employee because a remunerated student leader, while also serving the University and the campus community, does not participate in an employer-employee relationship with the University. In other words, a remunerated student receives compensation for the leadership role that they serve on campus; however, this compensation does not necessarily correspond to the number of hours served for an employer. Instead, this compensation serves to supplement that student leader’s income as they may have otherwise sacrificed a paid opportunity to hold the leadership position."
If you believe your organization has a leadership position within it deserving of a stipend, submit this petition by April 2nd, 2024 at 11:59pm. Petitions will be heard by a panel of students who are currently remunerated the night of April 3rd. Please review the rubric the panel will be using and an example remunerated position description before submission.
Submit this form for each position you are requesting a remuneration for. You may repeat answers that are not specific to the position you are requesting a remuneration for on each petition.
