This application is being used to verify applicant's eligibilty to receive a scholarship for Operation Splash, a grant funded program offered through Kaiser Permanete's " Healthy Eating Active Living" Program. Any child receiving a free and reduced lunch is automatically qualified for the program.
Applications will be processed and enrolled into the next avavaible session and time Please use the preferred time request & comments area in the application if you are looking for a specific date range and time . We will do our best to accomidate the request. We are not able to transfer scholarship once given.
Operation Splash is designed to provide aquatics programming to children in order to increase physical activity during the summer months. Each qualified applicant is eligable for ONE Session for free swim lessons.
(one session = 8 45min classes)
Please follow the instructions below to ensure timely processing of your application:
Step 1- Each Particpant/Child must complete a seperate application.
Step 2 - Please provide all contact information requested on the application, if any contact information is incorrect we will not be able to contact you about your child swim lesson.
Step 3 - Please carefully read the Swim Lessons description so you can place your child into a swim lesson that you believe will best fit for your childs swimming ability.
Swim Lessons Desciption:
Guppies - For ages 3-5 years old: Skills taught in this swim lesson are to understand basic safety rules, water adjustment skills, blowing bubbles, supported and unsupported front and back float for five seconds, front and back kicks with support and demstration of alternating arm actions with simultaneous use of legs.
Penguins 1 - For ages 5-9 years old: For children with little or no swimming experience. Skills taught in this Swim Lesson include understand basic safety rules, water adjustment skills, supported and unsupported front and back float for five seconds, gilding, front and back kicks with support and demstration of alternating arm actions with simultaneous use of legs.
Penguins 2 - For ages 8-12 years old: For children with little or no swimming experience. Skills taught in this Swim Lesson include understand basic safety rules, water adjustment skills, supported and unsupported front and back float for five seconds, gilding, front and back kicks with support and demstration of alternating arm actions with simultaneous use of legs.
Stingrays - For ages 6.5-12 years old: Demostrates the ability to perform all skills listed in previous levels and swims 10 yards without support. Skills taught include are freestyle with breathing, backstroke, butterfly kicks, breastststroke kicks, and elemantary backstroke plus some water safety skills.
Barracudas - For ages 7-13 years old: Skills taught include are swim 15-yards of front crawl with side breathing, swim 15-yards of back crawl, swim 10 yards of elementary backstroke kick , swim 10-yards sidestroke, swim 10 yards of breaststroke, tread water for 1-minute .
Sharks- For ages 8-14 years old: Children must be able to swim freestyle with side breathing, backstroke and elementary backstroke 25 yards. Instruction focuses on endurance with backstroke and freestyle side breathing, and build on butterfly and elemantary backstroke. Breastroke, sidestroke and turning at the wall will be introduced.
Adaptive Beginners - Designed specifically for individuals with a disability or special need. Session consists of eight 45min-1hour of swim lessons followed by an open swim.The beginner swim lessons focus on getting participants familiar and comfortable in the water (i.e. floating, face in water, head under water, kicking) and take place in the shallow pool at Pawley.
Adaptive Moderate/ Advanced - Designed specifically for individuals with a disability or special need. Session consists of eight 45min-1hour of swim lessons followed by an open swim.The moderate to advanced swim lessons focus on stroke progression and physical endurance and take place in the big pool at Pawley.
