    4. Clients are allowed only 2 excused absences and 0 unexcused absences. A make-up session calendar will be made available to clients.

    Group Rules:
In order to obtain the maximum benefits from attending group, the following ground rules must be followed by individuals who seek their treatment at Mills Treatment Services, Inc.:
    1. Clients are required to attend all group sessions and to show up on time. Missing a group session for any reason will merely result in your treatment being extended until you complete the required number of sessions and any other requirements. If a client misses two (2) consecutive weeks of sessions without notice the client can be dropped from the program. No fees will be reimbursed. Clients will still owe for all services previously rendered. Clients are required to attend at least one group per week unless excused by staff.
    2. Clients must show up on time for group. If a client is more than 10 minutes late, they might not be given credit for attending that group session and this, too, will extend their treatment. Exceptions to this rule are at the discretion of the group counselor.
    3. Clients are required to attend the groups or sessions to which they are assigned. If a client needs to change their group schedule (depending on availability), there will be a $25 fee. If a client attends a group to which they are not assigned, there is a $25 fee.
    4. Clients are expected to remain abstinent from all mood altering substances, including alcohol, throughout the entire course of the program. Failure to do so will be a treatment issue and could lead to a longer or more intensive level of treatment.
    5. Any person showing up under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to participate in group. Instead, the person will be required to call someone to drive them either to their home or to the Alcoholism Treatment Center, depending on the level of impairment, to determine if detoxification is needed. The individual will not be allowed to drive. If the person attempts to drive, the police will be called. The person will be referred to a more intensive level of treatment, possibly even an inpatient or intensive outpatient program should this occur.
    6. Clients must participate in group discussions and group exercises. In order to gain the maximum benefit from group, clients must participate in the group process. This means that clients are expected to talk honestly about themselves and to give feedback to other group members. Part of the group process is that group members can learn from one another, therefore, it is important to be an active participant in group.
    7. At the end of the specified number of group sessions, the client’s primary counselor and client will determine whether the client completed the group successfully or not. In order to make this determination, the client’s counselor will need to know something about client and how the client has resolved to prevent any future alcohol or drug problems. Therefore, it is important that the client participate actively in each group session.
    8. Upon completion of treatment, an Exit Interview will be completed. The exit interview will either be done at the last group night (after group, pending on counselor availability) or during regular business hours. This will ensure all needed documents/information has been received in order to complete and processes any paperwork on behalf of the client. All papers will need to be turned in during this
    appointment.
    9. An exit Urine Drug Screen will be performed upon the client’s completion of treatment. This will be done during regular business hours. A positive drug screen could result in more hours added to the client’s treatment.
    10. Everything that is said in group remains in group. Clients are not to discuss anything said in group with ANYONE outside the group. This includes revealing the identity of anyone in the group to ANYONE outside of the group. If something in group upsets a client, the client is to bring these issues up only with their counselor.
    11. All fees must be paid according to the Financial Agreement the client signs upon entering the program. The client should inform their counselor if they are having any problems with making payments. Completion letters cannot be sent without balance paid in full.
    12. During the pandemic with COVID group will be done via phone or computer. You will continue to fill out yor group sheet regarding group topic. If able to go back to groups in person, you must comply with regulations and rules set by North Carolina regarding social distancing, wearing masks, or any other rule.
