  • Disaster Evacuation Checklist

This check list should ONLY be used if you have time to grab household items. The most important thing during an evacuation is that you and your household make it to safety.
  • Grab and Go Items Checklist

This section is to help you pack some of your personal items. Remember to pack at least 3 days (72Hours) worth of clothing, medication, and personal needs for each person in your household.
  • Household and Irreplaceable Items

When faced with having to suddenly evacuate, trying to determine at that point what to take with you can be challenging and incredibly stressful. This section is to help you quickly determine items that you may want to take with you, if there is time. This is just a list of common items, there are sure to be other items that are important to you that may not be listed below. These lists are in no particular order of importance.
  • Documenting Contents of Home and Property

If you do not have time to grab anything, take a moment to quickly take a video and/or pictures of your valuable items. Documenting items, with photos and video, the contents of your home can save you an enormous amount of aggravation, especially with your insurance company, if insured.  If you lose all or a part of your home and possessions during a disaster, emergency or burglary, you will be asked by your insurance company (if you are insured) to compile a detailed list of what you have lost.  This is next to impossible to do, and no doubt there will be a lot of items left off that list. Proper documentation ensures a faster and smoother claims process and maximizes your insurance reimbursement.  Did you know that you must provide documented proof of ownership to receive a settlement covering the full extent of what you lose during a disaster or emergency?  According to the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters, most policyholders do not realize that the burden of proof rests with them.
