Congratulations in continuing your journey of ministry in the VAUMC! The Board of Ordained ministry has provided this track specifically for Licensed Local Pastors serving in extension ministry:

The LLP Extension Ministry Process includes:
- Responding to a series of questions related to Extension Ministry Appointment
- Uploading the annual evaluation from your immediate Supervisor
- Obtaining the Recommendation from your District Superintendent
- Reporting on Educational progress
- Confirming participation either in a Licensed Local Pastor Mentoring Group or in a Peer Covenant Group
- Signing of the License Management Agreement

Each year Extension Ministers are required to submit a report form which is reviewed by the Extension Ministry Committee of the Board of Ordained Ministry. They are also encouraged to attend yearly gatherings which are hosted, also, by the Extension ministry Committee of the Board of Ordained Ministry.

Mentoring/Peer Covenant Group Participation

Licensed Local Pastor within the first 3 years of licensing are required to meet with mentoring group. LLP's beyond their first 3 years, along with all other clergy, are expected to be in a clergy peer group. Please confirm your participation below.

All Licensed Local Pastors (not serving in retirement) are to be pursuing Course of Study. Full Time Local Pastors have eight years to complete their COS, and Part-Time Local Pastors have twelve years. For more information you can visit the Licensed Local Pastors Handbook found at: https://vaumc.org/localpastors/ Those who have completed their Course of Study or M.Div. may report on any continuing education they have participated over the past year.
Course of Study- Please tell us the COS School along with the names of any classes you have taken in the last appointment year. If you have your MDiv already, or have completed COS, please tell us the name of the school and the year of completion below.
If you have not taken Course of Study in the previous year, and are within the window of the requirement please share the circumstances which prevented you from doing so.

The License serves to document the credentials of a local pastor in the United Methodist Church. In order to maintain these credentials, a licensed local pastor must:
- Adhere to the renewal process set forth by the Board of Ordained Ministry
- Obtain the signature of the District Superintendent on the back of the license annually.
- Have access to the license at all times
