2026 Artist Application Form

Renaissance Box (RB) applications will undergo a competitive review process. The residency team will consist of one art professional, one STEM professional, and two to five project assistants/ student mentees, with the review committee having the discretion to adjust these numbers as necessary.

Renaissance Box residency program is a 10 - 12 week residency for artists and STEM professionals to create a new project inspired by any combination of science and studio art disciplines. This residency also includes a stipend of $500, and 24/7 studio access. This stipend can be used for personal expenses outside of Renaissance Box. No receipts or accounting of expenditures are required for the stipend but are required for any additional funding. RB invites applications from artists and STEM Professionals at any stage in their careers. RB can also provide technical advice and production assistance.

RB's residency selection process: a rotating, impartial jury selects the finalists, interviews are conducted, and then RB applies for additional funding for the chosen project. RB will oversee any additional project funding, requiring receipts or accounting of additional expenditures.

The goal of RB is to provide an immersive residency experience in Cleveland, OH, offering a diverse array of STEM, cultural, and networking opportunities to foster community-building and growth. Participation by the RB team in this programming is a required component of the residency program.

The residency will culminate in an exhibit at an art gallery and/or Ingenuity Cleveland, contingent upon Director's determination. This exhibition will showcase works created during the Residency period. Additionally, a presentation such as an artist talk, panel discussion, or other public programming will be required at or near the conclusion of the Residency.

Portfolio Submission Details & Guidelines.

Please use our online form for submissions. Open to any and all traditional and non-traditional visual arts media. Submissions are required to upload at least 5 images per submission - no larger than 1500 pixels and 72 dpi. Submissions for digital art, such as video, interactive or other new media should be submitted in the form of a link to a complete viewable online copy of each work along with a single still jpeg image. Submissions MUST include a CV & artist statement. All files should be labeled with the artist’s name and title of work. If the file is a detail of a previous image, note 'detail' in the file name, after the title of the work.

Without significant reserves or endowments, we rely on the generosity of participants like you. All entry fees directly support project-related expenses, enabling our grassroots initiatives to thrive. Much like the entry fee for a marathon, your contribution democratically empowers our organization's endeavors. It's worth noting that this entry fee represents the sole cost associated with participating in Renaissance Box.
