Renaissance Box Residency Overview
Renaissance Box (RB) applications undergo a competitive review process. The residency team typically consists of one art professional and one STEM professional, though the review committee may adjust this as needed.
The Renaissance Box Residency is a 12-week immersive program for artists and STEM professionals from Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Portage, Geauga, and Lake counties to create a new project inspired by any combination of science and studio art disciplines. The residency begins in late February, 2026. Participants receive a $500 stipend and 24/7 studio access. The stipend can be used for personal expenses outside of RB, with no receipts required. Any additional funding awarded for project expenses does require receipts and accounting, and RB can support participants in seeking grants or other funding opportunities to enhance their projects. RB also provides technical advice and production assistance as needed.
The selection process involves a rotating, impartial jury that reviews applications, interviews finalists, and helps secure additional funding for chosen projects. RB oversees all project funding and ensures proper accounting for expenditures.
RB provides an immersive residency experience in Cleveland, OH, with access to STEM, cultural, and networking opportunities designed to foster collaboration, community-building, and professional growth. Participation by the RB team in programming, including IngenuityFest, is a required component of the residency.
The residency culminates in a public exhibition at an art gallery and/or Ingenuity Cleveland, contingent on the Director's determination. Participants will also present their work through an artist talk, panel discussion, or other public program near the conclusion of the residency.
