Eligibility Criteria
PPIA Public Service Weekend participants must be currently enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a college or university with an interest in the public sector. All majors are welcome. Participants must reside in, attend college or university in, or have significant ties to Southern California. Preference will be given to traditionally underrepresented students.
Travel and Resource Support
The SPP PSW has allocated funds to assist participants traveling to the conference. Applications for travel support will be sent out to students if selected to participate in the program.
Application Preparation
This application will ask you to upload a current resume and college/university transcript (unofficial or official). You will also be asked to submit two essays, each with a 500-word limit. While you can return to this application form at any time, we recommend gathering all of your materials in advance to simplify the submission process.
The essay questions are:
1. How do your personal identities or lived experience encourage you to explore a career in public service, public policy, or international affairs?
2. As an emerging changemaker, what is a policy issue you strive to impact or influence? How do you expect participating in a Public Service Weekend will assist you in achieving this goal?
