Louisiana’s graduates are very prepared to compete in today’s global economy.
High schools should be expected to help students earn credentials that will help them earn significantly more money than they would without a high school diploma.
For students who choose the university path, high schools should place greater emphasis on ensuring those students graduate high school with college credit through opportunities such as dual enrollment or Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
Students being literate and numerate should be a significant factor in determining a school’s quality.
Outside of a core focus on foundational literacy and math, Louisiana's revised accountability system should emphasize age-appropriate proficiency in civics and STEM (science, technology, engineering, math).
Students earning industry or university recognized credentials should be a significant factor in determining a school’s quality.
It is important for students to have work-based learning experiences and received employer feedback while in high school.

Student growth should be simple for practitioners to calculate themselves.
Student growth measurements should be clear-cut, either a student did grow or they did not.
Student growth should reward schools that outperform other schools with certain student groups.
The accountability system should put additional emphasis on the growth of students with the lowest scores in each school.
7. Please share any additional comments you feel will be helpful in the development of a revised, comprehensive K-12 accountability system.
