• The Society of Working Moms: Coaching Survey

As I prepare to launch the Working Moms Slack group on Tuesday, April 23, I'd like to do a temperature check with the beta testers and email subscribers around coaching. (WM+ memberships [$30/mo] will include access to certified coaching -- at least one coach at a given time; more as membership dues could support it.)
  • What is coaching?

According to the International Coaching Federation (ICF), coaching is "partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential... often [unlocking] previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership." Coaching is not therapy; therapists are trained to treat mental illness or other significant emotional and relational concerns, while coaches seek to help you elevate performance in a specific area.
