    CRITERIA FOR SELECTING A JUDGE

Judges' involvement is crucial in ensuring the integrity and credibility of our awards process. To ensure that we select judges who can uphold these values, we carefully consider the following criteria:

    1. Expertise and Experience: We seek judges who possess significant expertise, knowledge, and experience in their respective fields or industries relevant to the award categories. Your deep understanding of industry standards, best practices, and emerging trends is invaluable.

    2. Credibility and Reputation: Your reputation and credibility within your professional community are essential. We look for judges who are recognized as leaders or authorities in their field, with a track record of achievements and contributions that demonstrate their expertise and integrity.

    3. Impartiality and Objectivity: As a judge, it's important to be impartial and objective in your evaluations, free from any conflicts of interest or bias. We rely on judges who can evaluate nominees based solely on the merits of their achievements, without personal or professional biases influencing their decisions.

    4. Diversity and Inclusivity: We strive to ensure diversity and inclusivity among our judges, representing a range of backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. Your unique viewpoint will enrich the evaluation process and help mitigate the risk of bias.

    5. Integrity and Professionalism: We expect judges to demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and ethical conduct at all times. Your honesty, fairness, and transparency will help maintain the integrity and credibility of our awards process.

    6. Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication and collaboration skills are essential for effective interaction with other judges, organizers, and nominees. Your ability to articulate evaluations clearly and constructively, and collaborate with others to reach consensus decisions, is highly valued.

    7. Commitment and Availability: Your commitment to fulfilling your responsibilities diligently and promptly is crucial. We need judges who are available to review nominations, participate in additional judging activities if warranted, and adhere to the established timeline and deadlines. Ideally, a judge must be able to commit to assess at least one (1) nomination in a given award year. Each nomination normally entails around one (1) hour. If there are more nominations to allocate than available judges, some judges may be requested to assess more than the usual number of allocated nominations but they always have the option to decline if not able to do so.

    8. No Conflict of Interest:

    - A judge cannot judge any award category that they or their work are nominated.

    - A judge whose book has been nominated for The World's Best Book Awards for the award year will be able to take part in judging non-book award categories but will be excluded from judging any book-related categories for the year.

    - All past awardees are automatically able to judge entries for succeeding award years. However, all judges will no longer be able to have themselves or their work nominated for any non-book award categories once they have become an awards judge.

    - If there are potential or perceived conflicts of interest, judges are required to notify us about such, so that they can be excluded from judging on that year.
