  • What is participatory budgeting?

    • Participatory budgeting is a process of democratic discussion and decision-making where everyday people decide how to spend part of a public budget.
    • Participatory budgeting asks residents to identify, discuss, and pick their priorities for public spending. It gives the people the power to make real decisions about how public money is spent.
    • Participatory budgeting is designed to involve those left out of traditional budget setting methods, such as low-income residents, non-citizens, and youth.
  • Please use the sliding scale to indicate how you would allot the city budget to address specific functions, and whether the roles police officers currently perform should be operated by other professionals or programs.

Based on a scale of 1-9, please rate your desirability for using police officers versus other professionals to fulfill the following roles in public safety. You do not have to answer any question you do not want to. If you have any comments or suggestions for any topic in this section, you may add them at the end of this section.
