THU Adoption Application
This adoption application is designed to gather accurate information so that you are matched with your most ideal pup. Even though we will accept any dog adopted from us back at any time for any reason, we would prefer to get it right the first time. It's unfair to you, your household, and the pup you're applying for when it doesn't work out and the dog is returned.

Please understand that there's zero judgement as we review applications and our desire is to provide the best possible fit for each pup in our care for the life of each dog. Because we care so much about the initial honeymoon phase of adopting a new to you dog, as well as future behavior of each dog, we offer two free dog training sessions (online or in your home, whichever is more practical) with our Founder and volunteer dog trainer, Jen Havens | The Real Life Dog. In some cases we may require that the sessions are booked prior to adoption and in all cases, we require applicants to complete a pre-adoption consult with Jen.

Most of the dogs who come to the Underground are fearful, have been out on their own for some time, have no idea how to be in a home, have only just started getting used to human interaction, and have the potential to withdraw if they experience too much of anything, including love. We will require you to spend time observing body language of the dog you're applying for during the scheduled time with your potential new pup at the Underground. Many of our adoptable dogs have specific routines or preferences. We will go over that while you're with us.

The dogs in our care enjoy alone time and cannot go everywhere with you all of the time. Our expectation is that you’d work with your new dog so they’d be comfy being left alone in a safe environment.

We require a securely fenced yard and full supervision when they are outside for at least the first three months. We will do a home and yard safety check prior to adoption.
