About the chips
Our truck carries up to 12 cubic yards of wood chips, and we dump full loads whenever we can. Share them with your neighbors if you aren't sure you need a whole load.
These are 100% free and local "arborist" wood chips. They are not perfectly uniform, and depending on the season and trees may contain up to 1/3 green material. Because of this, they break down faster than commercial mulch, so we encourage laying them down in a thick layer.
Most loads will contain a wheelbarrow-load or so of small sticks and rakings, and maybe even a few chunks of firewood. There is always some material at the end of a job that gets raked and scooped off a lawn or street and into the truck.
About the wood
If you want firewood or logs please specify if you have any species, diameter, or length requirements. If you don't we will assume you are capable of working with anything that we drop off.
The more restrictions you have, the longer it will take for us to fulfill your request.
We do not split firewood.
Special projects
We don't consider our organic material waste, and love to see people putting it to a higher use!
Here are just a few examples:
- Hardwood logs for growing shiitake or other mushrooms
- Cedar logs to border your garden beds or path
- Log stools for an outdoor classroom or around the campfire
- Wood cookies for table centerpieces at a wedding
- Basswood, walnut, or other wood for whittling or turning
If you have something particular in mind for a project, please let us know and we will see what we can do. If a request will take some extra effort for us to fulfill, we will reach out beforehand to find a fair price.
Timing and Delivery
You could get a delivery the same day you place a request, or it could be over a month before we are in the area with a full truck -- it all depends on your location and the time of year.
Deliveries are limited to our service area.
For special requests we may ask that you pick up the materials or pay a small fee for delivery.
