After receiving your tattoo, your artist applied the initial Dermor adhesive bandage to your tattoo. During the initial 24-48 hour a collection of excess ink, blood and plasma will accumulate under your bandage. If the bandage begins to leak it is important to remove it. Clean your tattoo with a mild soap, Dial Gold, let it dry and apply the second sheet of Dermor that the artist provided to you.
Remove your initial Dermor wrap that was placed by your artist. To remove the initial sheet of Dermor, it is best to do it while in the shower or while the bandage itself is wet. You want to pull the corners away from the tattoo, this should help to lift the center of the adhesive off the tattoo.
Applying 2nd sheet: Make sure your hands are clean and your tattoo has been cleaned with a mild soap. Let the tattoo air dry. DO NOT APPLY ANY LOTIONS OR OINTMENTS TO YOUR TATTOO PRIOR TO WRAPPING. If the corners of your Dermor sheet have not been cut off, cut off corners of sheet to prevent premature peeling of bandage.
Place sheet on tattoo with 1" inch allowance around border of tattoo. Press down on center of sheet and work
outwards. After placing Dermor on tattoo with edges secured, remove clear backing of wrap.
If tattoo is still leaking great amounts of plasma prior to applying second wrap of Dermor wait and allow tattoo to weep until it slows down or stops. Then apply Dermor sheet as stated above. In some cases if a tattoo is leaking too much plasma, the Dermor sheet may not successfully adhere. In this case you will have to switch to the traditional aftercare method with Aquaphor, lubriderm and Dial Gold soap.
DO NOT WEAR ANY DERMOR WRAP PAST A WEEK.
Suggested removal of bandage is between 4-5 days. After removal of second Dermor adhesive bandage, continue to use an unscented moisturizer to keep your tattoo hydrated
NOTE: Tegaderm is an acceptable replacement for the second piece of Dermor that is provided to you. If you lose, damage or are incapable of using the additional bandage. Tegaderm can be found at Walmart The wear time for Tegaderm is the same, 4-5 days, no longer than a week, and moisturize your tattoo after removal.
