CONTEST RULES
1) The Crawfish Eating Contest is a race to eat 2 LBS of crawfish the fastest.
After the eating competition start has been announced, contestants will begin eating. The crawfish tail must be stripped, and all the meat eaten. Sucking of the head is not required. Any uneaten crawfish will result in time penalty. Contestants that claim they have finished their 2lb serving of crawfish will raise their hand. ONLY raise your hand if you’re sure all tail meat has been eaten! The finished contestant will then stop eating and the tray will be examined by the judges before the winner is announced. Remaing competitors will continue eating during this time while the judges determine, if in fact all tail meat has been eaten.
Any Contestant that calls for time by raising their hand must eat the 2lb portion of crawfish completely without any proteins (tail meal) remaining. If determined by the competition judge there is crawfish tail meat remaining, a :30 second time penalty for each piece not eaten will be added to the contestants completion time.
The fastest top three of the preliminary rounds will advance to the Finals held during the Crawfish Festival on Saturday, April 13th at 5PM.
2) Contestants need to be at Linney Breaux’s ticket booth to check-in forty-five minutes before round begins.
3) Competitors must remain in their designated areas throughout the contest. Leaving your area will result in immediate disqualification.
4) Contestants may not touch their Crawfish tray or crawfish before the start of the contest.
5) Use of utensils is not permitted.
6) Inappropriate language or gestures will result in disqualification.
7) Physical contact with other contestants is strictly prohibited and will result in disqualification.
8) If a contestant vomits or regurgitates during the competition or weighing, they will be disqualified.
9) All contestants names and images may be used by Linney Breaux’s, Kroner and Baer, and Crawfest VI for promotional purposes.
