  • LifeGroup Registration

This registration will be reviewed by the Office of Ministry and Missions before approval can be given to facilitate an official LifeGroup this semester. The information you share will help your LifeGroup and ensure that every student can find a group that fits their needs.
    • LifeGroup Mission & Requirements
    • We provide opportunities for students and employees of Southern Adventist University to:

      • BELONG in spiritual small group communities,
      • BEHOLD God personally, and
      • BECOME empowered as disciple makers of Jesus Christ!

We pray that through the baptism of the Holy Spirit, your LifeGroup will experience radical spiritual transformation this semester.

      LifeGroup Leader Description & Expectations:

      • You are either a currently-enrolled student or employee at Southern Adventist University (or affiliated with a local church small group ministry).
      • You understand Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior.
      • You will facilitate a biblically-based small group in alignment with Seventh-day Adventist beliefs.

      1. Find an assistant to be your Co-Leader.
      2. Attend LifeGroup Orientation on September 6, 2025 from 9am-11:30am (required for all student leaders; co-leaders welcome) and January 17, 2026 for winter semester. Choosing not to attend may cause you to forfeit your ability to lead a LifeGroup this semester unless you have contacted lifegroups@southern.edu prior to the event.
      3. Determine what kind of LifeGroup you are wanting to have.
      4. Determine the title, content, and location of your weekly LifeGroup.
      5. Recruit members to your LifeGroup at GroupLink on September 12, 2025 (and January 23, 2026 for winter semester) from 7:30-8:20pm.
      6. Facilitate a weekly LifeGroup meeting (minimum of one hour).
      7. Submit electronic attendance for each LifeGroup meeting (12 people per group max).
      8. Meet with your designated LifeGroup Coach once a week (for student-led LifeGroups).
      9. Facilitate opportunities for your LifeGroup to engage in outreach throughout the semester.
      10. Facilitate your LifeGroup for at least 10 weeks of the semester.

The following list includes examples of groups which will not be approved to be a LifeGroup:

      1. Any student-led group which does not align missionally or adhere to the requirements of all LifeGroup leaders including, but not limited to, such things as attending LifeGroup Orientation, meeting weekly with a LifeGroup Coach, submitting LifeGroup attendance, etc. Any previously-approved LifeGroup that may be found to not uphold or abide by these such requirements or found to be engaged in inappropriate behavior at any point within a semester will be discontinued.

      2. Sabbath schools or small groups of local churches – While the Office of Ministry and Missions fully values and supports the ministry area-churches provide to students and employees of Southern Adventist University, student-led and employee LifeGroups are specifically intended to foster belonging among our campus community. Churches who wish to engage university students may partner with the OMM to explore strategic initiatives for student engagement outside of LifeGroups. Since enrichment credits are offered to Southern-facilitated programs primarily, OMM desires to help students create spiritual rhythms and practices regarding their engagement within the local church outside of LifeGroups.

      3. Clubs – LifeGroups exist to foster spiritual transformation through intentional small-group community (no more than 20 individuals), which distinguishes them from other campus organizations. Clubs, while essential for promoting belonging, shared interests, and engagement on our campus, are not designed for this purpose. Although clubs may have an elected officer who plans and executes spiritually-focused opportunities such as service projects or events, their primary function is not cultivating spiritual transformation within a small-group setting. For this reason, clubs are not eligible to be approved as LifeGroups.
