Leonardo's Discovery Camp is an entirely new camp experience.
Leonardo's camp has been reimagined to offer a consistent enriching experience for every camper with a better balance of art, science, STEM, and play! Read below for some of the key differences.
A Choice of A.M. or P.M. sessions will be offered during Summer Camp
We understand that this is a big change compared to camps in the past. But we see this as a necessary change to offer enhanced lessons and activities with as much consistency and enrichment as possible for all of our campers. Each session will be scheduled the same for each grade level. So please choose AM or PM.
Play breaks during each session
There will be two play breaks per session at either Adventure Quest or in the museum. This has been our most common request and we are very excited to offer it! Interns will be responsible for leading guiding play during these times. Interns will be given a task to help campers complete. This is the primary leadership task for all interns.
A focus on art techniques
Art lessons will now have a goal of introducing campers to different styles of art, art techniques, and the tools used in the process. They will also be introduced to many of the masters of each style. At the end of camp, campers will come home with a portfolio of all of their favorite pieces they created during camp. Interns will help campers with techniques and assist the teachers and campers with clean up and supply management.
A focus on the scientific process
Campers will use their brains and their hands to solve problems and understand how and why things work. Interns will assist teachers with science projects and DIY activities with the campers. Interns will assist the teachers and campers with clean up and supply management.
A focus on leadership for interns
Certain days after morning session and before the afternoon session there will be a leadership activity with all interns to develop skills in teamwork, communication, confidence building, and relationship building. All leadership activities will be 30 minutes or less and interns will be dismissed after clean up and leadership activities.
