  • Goals to Action Survey 

  • GSCA has set the following strategic goals for the 2025-2035 Strategic Plan. Below are the goals, a brief description of each goal, and some draft actions that we propose to take. We need your input on how these goals will be accomplished.  

  • GOAL 1

  • Effectively Monitor and Manage the Risk of Natural Hazards

  • Implementing proactive strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate the impact of natural hazards on our communities, including flooding, erosion, and dynamic beaches.

    • Develop or enhance programming to better understand, manage and communicate the risks associated with natural hazards.  
    • Ensure effective monitoring and communication of flood & drought events.  
    • Provide effective management of natural hazard infrastructure.  
    • Provide programming related to keeping development away from natural hazard areas.
    • Incorporate climate change into natural hazard risk assessment and management. 
  • GOAL 2

  • Enhance GSCA Land Management

  • Implementation of sustainable land management practices, conservation efforts, and community involvement are key components of achieving this goal. This may include initiatives to improve environmental sustainability, biodiversity conservation, and community engagement. The goal is to ensure that land is managed efficiently and responsibly, considering factors such as ecological health, economic viability, and social well-being. 

    • Maintain and enhance ecological features.  
    • Monitor and improve the management of GSCA properties.  
    • Manage and enhance the visitor experience. 
  • GOAL 3

  • Achieve Organizational Excellence 

  • This goal encompasses a commitment to excellence in performance, innovation, customer satisfaction, employee engagement, and ethical practices. It requires a holistic approach to organizational development, striving for continuous improvement and adaptability to changing natural, social and political environments. Achieving organizational excellence will involve enhancing service quality, fostering a positive organizational culture, embracing innovation, and maintaining strong ethical standards. 

    • Internal – Exhibit strong and supportive governance.  

    • Internal – Create a healthy and positive organizational culture.  

    • External – Deliver positive client services.  

    • External – Develop and maintain strong partner relationships.  

    • Both – Create a culture of clear and timely communication.

  • GOAL 4

  • Improve Watershed Health 

  • Enhance the overall well-being of the watershed by monitoring water resources, promoting conservation, and engaging communities in stewardship for sustainable water resources. 

    • Monitor and report on the state of the watershed.  
    • Provide stewardship leadership to enhance watershed health. 
    • Effectively manage Drinking Water Source Protection responsibilities under the Clean Water Act. 
       
  • GOAL 5

  • Strengthen Environmental Education and Communication 

  • Enhance education and communication efforts for better awareness and understanding of environmental issues, fostering proactive environmental stewardship. 

    • Strategically design and implement environmental education throughout the watershed.  
    • Effectively communicate GSCA’s Story.  
    • Meaningfully engage with communities and stakeholders.  
    • Create and implement service area communications.
