Preventing the Presentation of Pornographic Material to Children
The citizens of Yavapai county strongly oppose the sexualization of children! We believe no person under the age of 18 should have access to adult content (including illustrations, descriptions, photographs, etc.), and we support Arizona Revised Statutes 13-3506 which states:
A. It is unlawful for any person, with knowledge of the character of the item involved, to recklessly furnish, present, provide, make available, give, lend, show, advertise or distribute to minors any item that is harmful to minors. (13-3501 "Harmful to minors" means that quality of any description or representation, in whatever form, of nudity, sexual activity, sexual conduct, sexual excitement, or sadomasochistic abuse,...)
C. A violation of this section is a class 4 felony.
*Be It Resolved that the citizens of Yavapai County
1. Condemn the actions of any public library and/or librarian within Yavapai County that allows adult content (including illustrations, descriptions, photographs, etc.) to come into the hands of minor children.
2. Encourage the parent or guardian of any child exposed to pornographic material to report any person, including librarians, teachers, and other adults, who distributed the pornographic material to the Yavapai County Sheriff's office.
3. Urge the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, upon receipt of a report, to diligently investigate and prosecute when appropriate.
