Scholarship Application Process
1. Committee will consist of a Chairperson and at least 2 other members.
2. The applicant will submit a scholarship application, with all the necessary documents which are explained on the form. Points will be deducted if any of the required information is missing or incomplete.
3. The application and essay will be received by the chairperson.
4. The applicant and the essay will be assigned a number.
5. The essays will be copied and all identifying information will be redacted. Only the chairperson will know who the essay belongs to.
6. The redacted copies of the essays will be numbered and given to the members of the committee. They will then be critiqued individually according to the rubric and graded.
7. The rubric is relative to the subject of the essay. It is a weighted rubric totaling 100 total points.
8. After all essays are read and critiqued the essay with the highest total points is determined the winner.
9. After the winner is chosen then the name will be presented to the committee by the chairperson. The chairperson does not grade the essays to keep everything anonymous.
10. If there is a tie the essays are re-read and score again, also the students resume and grade point averages are examined. After which the committee will determine the winner.
