Required Degree: PhD in Drama, Theatre History/Theory/Criticism, or related field. The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
· Three years’ experience teaching theatre
· New play development or playwriting of at least two scripts
· Directing experience for traditional plays, musicals, or devising work, for at least three works, at least one of which has a religious theme
Duties/Expectations:
The Department of Theatre and Media Arts (TMA) at Brigham Young University (BYU), invites applications for Theatre Faculty to support undergraduate learning in new play development and theatre critical studies (theatre history, dramatic literature, performance studies, etc.)
• Teach undergraduate classroom courses in theatre history, theory, and criticism, and other core theatre arts courses.
• Teach in and supervise new play development curriculum.
• Conduct and publish significant research in theatre history, theory, and criticism and/or create new work through traditional playwriting or devising.
• Direct on the BYU Theatre season as assigned.
• Mentor students to ensure academic success and professional growth.
• Contribute regularly to the department, university, community, and profession.
