Concert volunteers (ushers) are energetic and enthusiastic high school/college students or adults who help make the POPS a safe and welcoming environment for all. Volunteers assist with venue setup, answer general questions, scan tickets, guide patrons throughout the venue and help carry picnic baskets to patron tables. When the sun goes down, volunteers help illuminate venue stairs/walkways, guide patrons to the exits at the conclusion of the concert and then collect table numbers before signing out at the end of their shift.

Our volunteers are an integral and highly valued part of our success as a performing arts organization. The benefits of volunteering include complimentary tickets, invitations to special volunteer appreciation events, service hours credit for students and last but not least the joy of knowing that your contributions of time and energy are deeply valued and gratefully received.

  • Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our Pasadena Symphony usher uniform. For summer concerts with the POPS, black shorts or skirts are permitted instead of pants, but keep in mind that there's usually a wide range of temperatures throughout the shift and it can get much cooler when the sun goes down. Most students opt to wear one set of sun-friendly clothing for table setup and bring their uniform separately to change into before the venue opens to the public. We highly recommend multiple layers, sunscreen and wide-brimmed hats. Shoes just need to be comfortable for standing/walking outdoors.
