Markeil.com was started by an I.C. Norcom High School alumni committed to promoting community college attendance. The goal is to promote highlight STEM and trade related opportunities at Tidewater Community College.
The Reed-Blow Family Scholarship recognizes outstanding I.C. Norcom High School graduating seniors who are pursuing education or trades through Tidewater Community College. These students display a strong academic record in STEM related coursework, leadership skills and active involvement in STEM or trade related activities and exemplify a genuine passion and commitment to pursuing a career in STEM related or trade fields. One (1) $1000.00 award is available this year.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
The applicant must be:
- A graduating senior from I.C. Norcom High School in Portsmouth, Virginia.
- A graduating senior with a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
- Accepted by and enrolled in Tidewater Community College as a full-time student.
NOTE: An official document from Tidewater Community College verifying enrollment must be provided before the actual scholarship award is disbursed. Scholarships will be disbursed directly to Tidewater Community College.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
The applicant will:
- Submit a completed application form.
- Submit two (2) letters of recommendation, which address the applicant’s leadership, citizenship, and character qualifications. The letter may come from a high school educator in the STEM or STEM related field, high school principal, a high school counselor, a club sponsor, community leader or a person in STEM field that can attest to the student’s performance with STEM. The person writing the letter CANNOT be a relative.
- Submit an official high school transcript.
Applications are due by May 15, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
