Background:
The City of League City has made the decision to terminate its reimbursement agreement with Keep Pearland Beautiful which provides year-round household hazardous waste recycling and disposal at the Stella Roberts Recycling Center free of charge.
Since entering into the agreement in May 2022, 633 League City residents have utilized the program to responsibly dispose of 32,147.66lbs of Hazardous Material and 244 Televisions. An additional 154 households recycled other difficult to recycle items such as automotive fluids, household electronics (non-tvs), and discarded cooking oils.
This doesn't include the thousands of other League City residents and businesses who visit our facility to bring other non-hazardous items such as paper, cardboard, plastic, scrap, countertop appliances, large appliances, glass, and so much more!
On April 10, 2024, the City of League City notified Keep Pearland Beautiful staff that council made the decision to no longer fund the city's household hazardous materials recycling and disposal program partnership effective April 30, 2024.
