Welcome to our annual Plano Juneteenth parade! The parade event will be held on June 22, 2024 starting 11:00a:m-12:00a:m.
We sincerely appreciate your particpation in this year's Juneteenth parade.
We are excited to have the Plano East Basketball Team State Champions and coaching staff at the forefront. The parade will also include various community organizations, car shows, and a procession of horses. Following the parade, the festivities will continue at the Plano African American Museum and the Boys and Girls Club in the historic Douglass community.
Attendees can enjoy live music, horse rides, a bounce house for kids, food trucks, a barbecue contest, and a variety of other exciting activities.
Rules and Regulations:
Parade Starts at 11 a.m.
Parade participants are allowed to gently throw candy or other give-away items from their floats or vehicles. If items are being handed out, a member or members from each group should walk alongside the group’s float or vehicle and hand, not toss, items to the crowd.
A parade pass with your line-up number will be emailed to you by the Friday June 14th, a week prior to the event. Your number must be displayed in the windshield of your vehicle in order to enter the parking lot to line up. There will be signs displaying the line-up numbers which will direct you to your numbered parking space. Parade entry forms turned in after the posted deadline will be added to the end of the parade line-up. All parade entries must be decorated and labeled.
The parade staging area is at the Courtyard Theater, 1509 H Ave, Plano TX 75074 we will head East on 16th Street.
If there will be people riding in/on your vehicle, please make sure they are aboard the vehicle before entering the parking lot to line up. Please have your entire group all aboard the vehicle at the entry point of the parade. Once everyone is on the vehicle, you may enter the staging parking lot to line up.
The end point of the parade will be at the Boys and Girls Club 1111 H. Ave Plano TX 75074.
There will be golf carts by the Boys and Girls club to take walkers back to their cars if necessary.
Floats - Vehicle
Parade participants are encouraged to show off their community pride by decorating their float or vehicle. Judges will select winners in several categories, including the pirit Award, the Best Theme Award, and the Most Creative Award.
Float Requirements:
Optimum size 6’ x 10’; Maximum size 6’ x 16’ (not including trailer tongue).
May be towed (garden tractor or truck/auto) or self-propelled.
Decoration of tow vehicle not required.
At least one person walking on each side of the float.
2024 Theme: Love Knows No Boundaries , Unity Knows No Limits. School spirit themes are also encouraged.
Parking Details
All entries should be at the parking lot to line up no later than 10:30 a.m. People who are watching the parade can park at the Plano Police station, down town Plano, or anywhere along the green lines . ( See Above Map)
Other Rules
- Authorization to the parade is required therefore the contact person should secure a document by completing this form and waiting for approval.
- No discriminatory practices, no inappropriate signs, visuals, props, or images.
- You may distribute goods or treats while doing the parade.
