  • 1. Anyone utilizing the jumps on the XC Course must pay the annual or daily XC fee and have a waiver on file with CDAS office.

    2. XC Course users must be accompanied by a current CDAS certified instructor. NO JUMPING ALONE.

    3. Instructors must complete the appropriate forms and pay the Certification Fee as well as purchase a Membership.

    4. Instructors that school horses must also purchase an annual XC pass or pay the daily fee.

    5. XC Course must be booked and approved at least 1 business day in advance.

    6. Instructors are responsible for:

    a. Ensuring that all riders wear approved vests and helmets.

    b. Having signed waivers prior to rider mounting a horse on CDAS grounds.

    c. Collecting all rider fees.

    d. Completing the XC Course Sign in Sheet.

    e. all CDAS rules, policies and standards be maintained by all in your party.

    7. All forms and fees are to be submitted to CDAS before mounting or using the facilities. A drop box located at the entrance to the XC Course or fees may be Etransferred.

    8. Blank forms are available in the drop box.

    9. Rally Grounds are not part of the cross-country course.

    10. No unauthorized vehicles are allowed to drive on the XC course.

    11. Report all damages and potential safety risks to CDAS office immediately.

    12. The course may be closed due to adverse conditions or commercial bookings.

  • COCHRANE & DISTRICT AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY (CDAS) PARTICIPANTS RESPONSIBILITIES - Appendix E

    1.            Member and/or Pass Holder will abide by all CDAS rules and policies as outlined in the CDAS Bylaws & in the CDAS Park Rules & Policies Appendix F (receipt of Appendix F is hereby acknowledged).

    2.            A minimum fee of $50 may be charged in the event clean-up is not completed

    3.            Should a Member and/or Pass Holder have an accident while on CDAS grounds, they must complete an Incident Report (provided by CDAS) and turn in to CDAS office within 24 hours. Link Available on the CDAS website “Contact” page.

    4.            Member and/or Pass Holder privileges can be revoked for any breach of the rules & policies by the CDAS.

    5.            I have read and understand agree to the terms and conditions of the Cochrane & District Agricultural Society (CDAS) as outlined in the Park Rules and Policies-Appendix F.

     

  • EVERY PARTICIPANT AT THE COCHRANE & DISTRCT AGRICULATURAL SOCIETY MUST CAREFULLY READ THIS NOTICE. Mounting and/or use of the facility is considered evidence of acknowledgement and acceptance.

    Be aware that there may be several different types of equestrian and non-equestrian activities taking place on the grounds at the same time. Your horse must be under control at all times. If your horse is not behaving properly or upsetting other horses, you must leave the area. When riding in any of the CDAS facilitiess please following guidelines:

     

    1. ACCESS AND USE OF PARK AND ARENAS

    a. All CDAS rules, policies and standards be maintained by all in your party. Members are responsible for the behavior and actions of all members of their party.

    b. Member and/or pass holder must be in good standing with CDAS. (e.g. fees paid, forms signed, no rule violations)

    c. Arenas are available for riding 5 am to 12 midnight provided the respective facility has not been previously booked by a Commercial User or User Group. All activities are posted on the event calendar posted on the CDAS web site: https://www.cochraneagsociety.com/calendar.html

    d. Current year’s fees and documents must be signed and submitted to office. Door codes are given to Pass Holders upon payment of fees.

    e. Only Pass Holders, companion pass holders, registered User Groups or pre-booked commercial users are allowed to participate in riding or other sporting activities on CDAS grounds.

    f. Riding Pass Holders may bring a guest rider(s) (XC Course Pass Holders not included). Pass Holders must ensure that all guest riders sign in on User Log sheets, sign a “Release, Waiver of Claim and Assumption of Risk” form and pay $25.00 per day. Payment and form to be deposited in Drop Box on office wall.

    g. CDAS grounds may be locked. Pass Holders, User Groups and Commercial Users will be given the confidential codes for grounds and appropriate facilities upon completion of contract. Codes are changed periodically, and notification of change is emailed out to current Pass Holders and User Groups. Please keep the codes confidential.

    h. Pass holders are responsible for checking the CDAS calendar for prior bookings before coming to use the Arena(s).

    i. Everyone must sign in daily on one of the User Logs located on office wall in the Indoor Arena, entrance to Cross Country Course and entrance to Outdoor Arena or the online booking calendar.

    j. When these areas are not previously booked, Riding Pass Holders are welcome to use the designated equine areas (Indoor Arena, Large Outdoor Arena, Small Outdoor Arena, Warm-up Rings), as well as trail ride on the Ag Society Park grounds. This does not include the Rally grounds (Pony Club) areas located in the top northwest corner of the park.

    k. The Bike Cochrane Mountain Bike Trail area and BMX Areas are restricted from equine use. To access either area a user must be a member of the respective club. Bikes are prohibited from designated equine courses and arenas.

    l. Use of the cross country grounds requires a Cross Country Pass. A CDAS certified instructor MUST be present when jumping on the Cross-Country Course.

    m. When possible, please utilize the walk-thru man doors for entering or exiting the arena with horses. Please close all doors promptly upon entering.

    n. Use lights only if necessary. Turn off all lights when done.

    o. Stabling is available at a predetermined fee and must be booked through the office.

    p. NO LESSONS are to be conducted in the arena without being booked as a private function.

    q. There is a minimum charge for electrical outlets. Contact the office for electrical services.

     

    2. CONDUCT

    a. Members and Pass Holders will conduct themselves in a cooperative and respectful manner to allow for the multi-discipline activities at all CDAS facilities while being considerate of other riders and everyone’s safety. All CDAS rules, policies and standards are maintained by all in your party.

    b. CDAS Communication Policy must be followed in any and all conflict situations and recommendations. (Refer to web site for Communication Policy.)

    c. Clean up after yourself & your horse. Sweep concrete area. Pick up manure in parking lots and/or stable areas and place in proper receptacles. Pick up all litter. DUMP the wheelbarrow in the appropriate manure pits. A minimum of $50 may be charged to the individual or group in the event clean up is not completed adequately.

    d. Shavings in pits are for CDAS and CDAS boarders use only.

    e. Anyone passing through a gate or panel must return them to how they found them.

    f. Pass Holders are responsible for their guest’s conduct.

    g. NO SMOKING in or near any CDAS buildings.

    h. DOGS must be on a leash at all times.

    i. NO ALCOHOL or CANNIBIS is permitted on the grounds unless proper approval and permits are obtained. Illegal drugs and activities are not permitted

    j. Equine businesses are not permitted on CDAS grounds unless they are part of a commercial booking or in the event of emergency or if approved by office.

    k. No feeding of horses in arena(s), tack up areas or alleyways.

    l. WATER is provided for horses and watering facilities. DO NOT drink or use it for washing horses.

    m. If there is no one else in the facility turn out the lights and lock the doors when you leave.

    n. DO NOT clean out trailers anywhere on CDAS grounds.

     

    3. SAFETY

    a. Anyone under 16 years of age must be accompanied by parent or responsible adult at all times.

    b. CDAS strongly recommends that anyone under the age of 18 wear a certified helmet when riding on CDAS property. Helmets are recommended for all riders (equine, bike and recreational motor vehicles), and are mandatory for all riders under the age of 16

    c. Everyone jumping on CDAS property is required to wear a certified helmet.

    d. Report any damage or safety risks to office in writing or via email.

    e. When riding, always be aware of other riders to avoid unexpected interactions.

    f. If the arena is crowded and you feel unsafe, please leave the arena.

    g. Lunging is permitted under the following circumstances:

    i. If the arena is not already in use

    ii. You ask permission from riders already in the arena

    h. If other riders enter the facility while you are lunging limit your time to a maximum of 10 minutes.

    i. If the only rider present, then equipment such as barrels and poles may be used. However, if other pass holders arrive then this equipment must be removed immediately so as not to interfere with other riders.

    j. If you have set up equipment, please ensure that all equipment is returned to its original storage area.

    k. Your horse must be under your control at all times, otherwise you must remove your horse from the arena(s).

    l. No horses are to be allowed to roll in the Indoor Arena when other riders are present. If you wish to allow your horse to roll, please take it outside or wait until other riders have left the arena(s).

    Should a member and/or Pass Holder have an accident while on CDAS grounds, they must complete an Incident Report (provided on the CDAS website) and turn into CDAS office within 24 hours.

  • EVERY PARTICIPANT AT THE COCHRANE & DISTRCT AGRICULATURAL SOCIETY MUST CAREFULLY READ THIS NOTICE BEFORE SIGNING. NO PARTICIPANT WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTCIPATE PRIOR TO SIGNING THIS FORM.

    Mounting and use of the facility is considered evidence of acknowledgement and acceptance.

    “Inherent risks of equine and user group activities” shall mean those dangers or conditions, which are an integral part of sporting activities that may be held on these grounds, including but not limited to:

    a. The propensity of any equine to behave in ways that may result in injury, harm, or death to persons on or around them and/or damage to property in their vicinity.

    b. The unpredictability of an equine reaction to such things as sounds, sudden movements, cycles, crowds and unfamiliar objects, people or other animals.

    c. The equine’s response to certain hazards such as surface and subsurface objects.

    d. The potential of collisions with other equines, animals, people and objects.

    e. The potential of a participant to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury to the participant or others, such as failing to maintain control over the equine or to act within his or her ability.

     

    “Releasee and/or Releasees” shall mean the Cochrane and District Agricultural Society (CDAS), its user groups and affiliates, activity Organizing Committee(s), officials, volunteers, staff, and agents.

     

    I release the Releasees from liability and waive as against the Releasees all recourses, loss or damages, including any consequential damage or loss, claims, causes of action of any kind whatsoever arising from my participation in the activity. I voluntarily accept the legal risk, thereby expressly giving up any right of action and the physical risk arising from all liability whether such liability arises in contract, by reason of NEGLIGENCE or by reason of breach of duty raised by statute, or in any other manner whatsoever.

     

    I further acknowledge and agree that:

    a. The activity is dangerous, exposing participants to risks and hazards, some of which are inherent in the very nature of the reaction itself, others which result from NEGLIGENCE or FAULT on the part of the person involved in preparing and organizing or staging the activity.

    b. As a result of the aforesaid risks and hazards, I as a participant may suffer injury, even death, as well as property loss.

    c. Some of the aforesaid risks and hazards are foreseeable, but others are not.

    d. I nevertheless freely and voluntarily assume all of the aforesaid risks and hazards and that accordingly, my use of the facilities while participating in the activity.

    e. I acknowledge and agree to respect and follow all rules, policies and standards communicated and posted by CDAS

    f. I understand the Releasees, specifically CDAS, its board of directors, and employees assume no responsibility or liability for my safety while I am participating in an activity.

    g. That I have carefully read the COMPLETE RELEASE, WAIVER OF CLAIM AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK, that I fully understand same and that I am freely and voluntarily executing same.

    h. I understand that by signing this RELEASE, I will be forever precluded from suing or otherwise claiming against any of the Releasees for any loss or damage connected with any property loss, personal loss, personal injury, or death I may sustain while participating in the activity.

    i. I understand the Releasees do not permit me to use the facilities now or in the future unless I sign the COMPLETE RELEASE, WAIVER OF CLAIM AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK and that this COMPLETE RELEASE, WAIVER OF RISK AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK apply to the activity whether occurring in the near or distant future and the terms of this agreement need not be brought to my attention each time I am a participant in the activity in order to be effective.

    j. This COMPLETE RELEASE, WAIVER OF CLAIM AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK is binding on me, my heirs, my executors, administrators, personal representatives and assignees.

    k. If I or any member of my family should incur an accident while on CDAS grounds I will complete an Incident Report (provided by CDAS and available on the website) and submit it to CDAS office.

    This COMPLETE RELEASE, WAIVER OF CLAIM AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK shall remain in effect for the duration of membership and/or any time spend on the grounds and until all animals and property of the signee have been removed from the CDAS grounds. By signing this document, you agree to abide by all rules of the Cochrane and District Agricultural Society.
