INTEREST APPLICATION FOR YOUTH COURT VOLUNTEER
All applicants must be able to pass background check as part of the application process. All submissions and their IP address are logged. Application will be accepted on a continual basis, year-round. Submittal of an application is not a guarantee of acceptance into the Youth Court program. Upon acceptance, an email will be sent to the volunteer's email address to confirm interest, and schedule an in-person interview.
Riverside Youth Court has been developed as a part of the City of Riverside’s Juvenile Justice System. These are real cases, where juveniles have admitted the misdemeanor offense, but have chosen to be judged by their peers in determining the consequences.
Riverside Youth Court is open to any youth, ages 12-17. Youth Court volunteer participants will learn about a respondent’s offense and help select a suitable disposition designed to hold the youth accountable for his/her actions, and to encourage future compliance with the law.
The Riverside Youth Court depends on its volunteers. You can participate as a juror, bailiff, court clerk and/or attorney. If you would like to be involved in this exciting program, please complete this INTEREST APPLICATION TO BECOME A YOUTH COURT VOLUNTEER. We are certain you will find Youth Court an interesting and satisfying experience.
Youth Court is held on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Volunteers will receive 4 hours of community service for each youth court session they attend and 5 hours of community service for the one-time training.
