Due to a US Department of Labor decision dated May 29, 2025, public transit employers in Florida will no longer have the option to file PERC waivers to prevent the terms of Florida's SB-256 legislation applying toward transit bargaining unit employees, which includes HART. Therefore, your union dues will NO LONGER be deducted from your paycheck and remitted to Teamsters Local 79 on your behalf. Teamster members are now required to "self-pay" union dues through ACH payments, credit/debit card payments, or by check or cash. You can set up these options through this membership application process. Feel free to contact the Teamsters Local 79 bookkeeper with any questions you may have @ (813) 621-1391, Ext. 3.
To become (and remain) an active Teamster member, you must remit dues to Teamsters Local 79 yourself.
