  • Please Note: Before any work begins on your improvement project, you must have had a meeting with Economic Development staff, submitted a complete application form and received written approval from the Town of Georgina.

  • Before you fill out this application, you'll need the following:

    • Letter from owner authorizing the work (if not the applicant)
    • Concept design/drawing of proposed improvements
    • A current front photo of your building
    • Proposed front elevation detailed drawings (if relevant)
    • List of what is going to be removed
    • List of the proposed additions – new specifications
    • Ensure you've read the Community Improvement Plan Information Package and the design concepts for the area

    • Heritage Grant

      Program Description
      The Heritage Building Improvement Grant Program has been created to provide existing building owners/building operators with a financial incentive to improve the appearance of existing heritage building façades. All applications for this grant program will be considered subject to the availability of funding. Program eligibility will be determined by Staff on the Internal Review Team.

      Grants approved under this program would be provided to property owners/business operators following the submission of the final invoices for the renovation work completed, indicating that the suppliers/contractors have been paid in full.

      Eligibility for heritage building improvements includes general work that conserves or enhances designated attributes, conservation of significant exterior architectural features, Recreation of documented historical features, exterior painting in documented historical colours, Structural Repairs, Architectural and/or Engineering Services, Introduction of elements to protect heritage features, Historical landscaping projects and additional heritage improvements as approved by the Town.

      The grants will be up to $7,500 or 50 percent of the cost of the renovation, whichever is less.

      Program Requirements
      All building owners/business operators who are members in good standing of the Business Improvement Area are eligible to apply for funding under this grant program, subject to the following requirements, and the availability of funding as approved by Council:

      1. Any property owner/business operator wishing to be considered for a grant under this program must complete and submit a Heritage Building Improvement Grant Application Form to the Town, including a design concept and colour scheme, prior to the start of the project.
      2. Business operators are eligible to apply for a Heritage Building Improvement Grant only if they can provide written consent to conduct the improvements from the owner of the property.
      3. The heritage building improvement must conform to any design guidelines approved by the Town.
      4. The subject property shall not be in a position of tax arrears. All taxes owing shall be paid or cancelled, prior to the disbursement of any grant money.
      5. All final paid invoices must match the original quotes that were submitted as part of the grant application in order to receive the full approved amount. If the completed projects costs do not end up matching the original quotations that were submitted to the review committee, your approved grant amount and payment will be modified based on 50 per cent of the invoice paid or the amount approved in the grant whichever is the lesser amount.

        Note: Applicants may apply to one or more of the grant programs to the maximum allowable amount and on the basis of matching funds.

    • Landscape Grant 
    • Landscape Grant

      Program Description
      The Landscape Improvement Grant Program has been created to promote the establishment of enhanced landscaping to improve the existing image of the area. All applications for this grant program will be considered subject to the availability of funding. Program eligibility will be determined by Staff on the Internal Review Team.

      Grants approved under this program would be provided to property owners/business operators following the submission of the final invoices for the renovation work completed, indicating that the suppliers/contractors have been paid in full.

      Eligibility for landscaping improvements include portable and permanent planters,
      reconstruction of pedestrian pathways and corridors, modification of existing open spaces, sustainable landscape initiatives, green streets initiatives and additional landscape improvements as approved by the Town.

      The grants will provide financial assistance to those who want to improve the appearance of their properties through landscape plantings. The planting program would be subject to approval by the Town. The grants will be up to a maximum of $7,500, or 50 percent of the cost of the improvement, whichever is less.

      All building owners who are located within the CIP Areas are eligible to apply for funding under this grant program, subject to the following requirements, and the availability of funding as approved by Council:

      Any property owner wishing to be considered for a grant under this program must complete and submit for Town approval a Landscape Improvement Grant Application Form to the town, including a Landscape design concept, prior to the start of the project.
      The landscape improvement must conform to any design guidelines approved by the Town.
      The subject property shall not be in a position of tax arrears. All taxes owing shall be paid or cancelled, prior to the disbursement of any grant money.
      All final paid invoices must match the original quotes that were submitted as part of the grant application in order to receive the full approved amount.       Program Description
      The Façade Improvement Grant Program has been created to promote the sensitive redesign of existing building façades to enhance the existing image of the area. This program is intended to provide existing building owners/business operators with a financial incentive to improve the
      appearance of existing building façades. All applications for this grant program will be considered subject to the availability of funding. Program eligibility will be determined by Staff on the Internal Review Team.

      Grants approved under this program would be provided to owners/business operators following the submission of the final invoices for the renovation work completed, indicating that the suppliers/contractors have been paid in full.

      Eligibility for façade improvements include painting (including wall murals), restoring façade masonry and brickwork, restoring architectural features, replacing or repairing windows, improvement of the appearance of entrances, re-design of storefronts, installation of new signs (subject to sign by-law), installation or repair of canopies and awnings, install or repair exterior
      lighting, and additional facade improvements as approved by the Town and EDC.

      These grants will be up to $7,500 or 50 per cent of the cost of the renovation, whichever is less.

      Program Description

      The Accessibility Improvement Grant Program has been created to promote improved accessibility to existing buildings within Uptown Keswick, Sutton and Jackson's Point. All applications for this grant program will be considered subject to the availability of funding. Program eligibility will be determined by Staff in consultation with the Internal Review Committee.

      Grants approved under this program would be provided to property owners/business operators following the submission of the final invoices for the renovation work completed, indicating that the suppliers/contractors have been paid in full.

      Eligibility for accessibility improvements include interior and exterior upgrades to existing buildings. Accessibility Improvements must follow the Accessibility Requirements in the Ontario Building Code in order to be approved.

      The grant would be up to a maximum of $7,500 or 50 per cent of the cost of the improvement, whichever is less.
