Interns, please review this section carefully.
We are already making the world a better place by encouraging and enabling people to show their love by making a meaningful charitable donation in a friend's name instead of buying yet more "stuff." Imagine how much good we could do with even 1% of the $450 billion Americans spend each year on birthday, wedding, and holiday presents. Our nonprofit site makes it easy and rewarding.
A Very Efficient Nonprofit
We are very cost-efficient. We have no paid staff; as a virtual organization, we do not have to pay for office space; and as a nonprofit, nobody is profiting.
Expenses so We Can Serve You and Those in Need
However, we do have extensive software licenses, hosting costs, insurance, accounting, and other costs, which we need to cover to operate and to provide internships to you and your peers.
Interns are Helping
Many of our recent interns donated when they ended their internship. Ones who got a job typically donate $250. As one wrote,
"You totally saved me! If I had not found Changing The Present, I would have had to pay a fortune to some staffing company (some charge a $1k to $3k upfront fee plus 20-30% of my salary for one to three years). Otherwise, I would have had to leave the country when I ran out of unemployment days. Even if I found a job in time, unemployment days during first-year OPT are deducted from allowable unemployment days during STEM extension.
The $250 donation is just about one day's pay at my new job, so I am happy to help a nonprofit that helped me so much!"
Those who are still in school sometimes donate less, most often $50 for each month they are here. Every bit helps.
Asking for Your Support
They thought that all our interns would be glad to do the same, and nobody has yet said no.
We hope you see it the same way and that you, too, will make a tax-deductible contribution to make all this possible.
