Group workdays for community organizations, faith-based groups, grassroots organizations, youth programs, etc. are the perfect way to authentically connect with others while helping maintain and improve gardens across the DUG network.

  • Workday tasks may include amending soils, laying pathways, building raised beds, installing plot edging, clean out the garden plots, weeding, etc. at community garden sites throughout Metro Denver.

We ask that volunteers provide their own transportation to and from project sites and sign a waiver prior to working on projects (those under age 18 must have a parent or guardian sign). Workdays are held rain or shine, so come prepared! (Workdays are canceled in the event that heavy rain or snow create unsafe working conditions.)

If you would like to volunteer with your group, please fill out the form below. A Denver Urban Gardens staff member will follow up with more info.

Please note that DUG receives a large number of volunteer inquiries. While we wish we could accommodate all volunteer groups, we are not always able to satisfy every request.

  • Community group workdays are offered at a pay-what-you-can rate for community groups to cover the human and physical resource costs.

In order to balance accessibility with a well-resourced experience, we invite your group to pay what you are able towards the workday according to your resources, conscience, and position.

The true cost for a community group workday averages between $1,000-$1,500 depending on group size and material costs, but you are welcome to pay what you can based on what feels right for your group.
