Cohort Commitments
Will your church be able to assemble a team of up to eight members, including the senior pastor, 2-6 diverse (age, gender, ethnicity) members of the congregation, and one other staff member, for the Helping Churches Thrive shared learning cohort?

Participating congregations' Helping Churches Thrive teams must attend both the 24-hour opening retreat in September (20-21) and the celebration retreat in May (15-16). The cost of the retreat is $60 per person for double occupancy and $100 per person for single occupancy. Will your team be able to attend both retreats?

The Helping Churches Thrive shared learning cohort will convene on the first Monday of each month, except for December 2025 and April 2026, for ongoing learning and team development. The video calls will last for 1.5 hours. Can your team commit to attending these monthly learning calls?

This will entail participating congregations hosting churchwide conversations, with the exception of December 2025 and April 2026, (either on a Sunday during Sunday School or after worship, or on Wednesday nights). The churchwide process will require participating churches to provide two questions for Sunday School classes to discuss the characteristics of a thriving congregation, one Sunday per month. Will your church commit to hosting these churchwide conversations?

The churchwide process will require participating churches to dedicate one worship service per month to focus on the theme characteristic through the sermon and other elements. Will your church commit to focusing one Sunday per month, except December and April, to focus on a characteristic of thriving congregations?

Participating congregations will covenant with a Thriving guide. The guide will attend the opening and closing retreats, assist in facilitating two of the churchwide conversations, and provide coaching for the church's HCT team. The church's side of the guide covenant is $2,000, but financial assistance can be made available. CBFNC will contribute an additional $2,000 for guide services. Is your church able to commit to covering the congregational portion of the guide's fee?
